Chris is a highly experienced leader with a distinguished 30-year career as an Infantry Officer in the Australian Army. Following his military service, he transitioned into consulting within the Defence sector, where he successfully led a team of skilled professionals in the Joint Experimentation Directorate (JED).
Throughout his career, Chris has consistently delivered exceptional outcomes, underpinned by a personable leadership style and strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities. He brings extensive experience in complex problem solving, strategic analysis, campaign design, and operational planning.
A highlight of Chris’s career was his appointment as Commanding Officer of NORFORCE, a Regional Force Surveillance Unit responsible for patrolling Australia’s northern approaches. This role was particularly significant given NORFORCE’s distinction as the Army’s largest unit of locally recruited and trained Indigenous soldiers. He also undertook an international posting to the United Kingdom, serving as an instructor at the Joint Command and Staff College—an experience that was both professionally rewarding and personally enriching.
With a technical background and degree specialisation in Operations Research and Statistics, Chris has developed deep expertise in military experimentation, capability development, and analytical wargaming. During his time at JED, he led the design and delivery of the National Defence Strategy series of wargames, as well as strategic risk and operational assessments between 2022 and 2024.
